Garden Bench Restored with Sadolin superdec satin opaque wood protection

Sadolin Superdec Satin Opaque Wood Protection is perfect for this job as it will give protection to your outdoor garden furniture for up to 8 years. Sadolin Superdec is a solid colour wood stain that gives a painted opaque finish rather than a stained finish. It expands and contracts with sun and rain and will not flake or chip. Sadolin Superdec is also suitable for weathered plastic, metal, concrete, brick, stone and pvc and is available in 1 litre, 2.5 litre and 5 litre tins. Sadolin Superdec comes with a choice of over 200 colour options so the possibilities are endless. Buy in store or call our paint counter to order on 0504 21900.

Method

Step 1: Preparation is key so make sure your wooden bench is dry. We found that lifting the bench onto cardboard or dust sheet was handy for clean up afterwards.

Sand any loose or chipped wood or previously damaged stain or chipped paint off. Clean off any algae or moss.

If needed, use exterior wood filler to cover any blemishes or cracks, and give the whole bench a gentle sand. Dust away any residue from sanding ready for painting.

Step 2: Make sure you have all the decorating accessories you need ready – you can brush or roll on the Sadolin Superdec. We used the 4’’ Two Fussy Blokes roller sleeve for a gorgeous finish and a 2’’ brush to get into all the corners. Warm water and soap will also clean up your tools as Sadolin Superdec is water based.

Step 3: Pick a colour that will complement your own individual style. Paint provides an instant facelift for walls both inside and out, and it has exactly the same effect on garden furniture so we chose a strong mustard called Butterscotch.

Step 4: Give your bench 2 coats for optimum cover and protection. No undercoat is required as Sadolin Superdec is self priming and undercoating. Sadolin Superdec also contains a biocide to protect the dried paint film against fungal degradation, again providing longevity of the coating. Leave 2-4 hours between coats and enjoy your *new furniture !!
